Reiki (“Ray-Kee”) is a healing practice that promotes overall balance and relaxation. The technique was discovered in Japan over 100 years ago and widely used in hospitals and other clinical settings today (as a complement to conventional medicine).

In addition to relaxation, Reiki therapy has a multitude of benefits including (but not limited to) pain and stress relief, improved energy levels and sleep, and feelings of peace and clarity.

Your being contains a system of channels where life force energy (also known as prana, chi or ki) flows through you. A Reiki master (who has undergone formal training in this healing art) uses a series of gentle hand placements on (or slightly above) your body with the intention to guide the flow of healthy energy.

Reiki is Love,
Love is Wholeness,
Wholeness is Balance,
Balance is Well-Being,
Well-Being is Freedom from Disease.
— Mikao Usui

Reiki is a simple, natural, and safe method of holistic healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to receive its benefit(s). It operates within the laws of life force energy that is present everywhere.

Quantum physics has demonstrated that all substance is composed of energy fields: vast expanses of space in which particles of matter are created by the temporary intersection of these fields of energy. The human body is made up of dynamic energy systems and in a Reiki session, the practitioner is essentially moving energy.

Our upbringing, life experiences, and the nature of the world around us may cause our energy centers to get sluggish, stuck or even blocked. This may show up as a physical symptom, thought pattern, emotion or other  limitation. When energy flows freely, without blockage, we experience feelings of peace, harmony, and joy.

Reiki…a powerful, yet gentle technique activates the parasympathetic nervous system which is associated with relaxation, digestion, and regeneration. In other words, the person’s own healing response kicks into gear while receiving the treatment.

By its very nature, Reiki gives the power and control for healing to the receiver…the body’s inner wisdom orchestrates the “inner work” in accordance with the creative intelligence of the universe.

Reiki (and therapeutic touch) is now one of the top three complementary in-patient therapies in US hospitals, according to the American Hospital Association (AHA). Many healthcare professionals have found Reiki to be a powerful adjunct to conventional medicine. When integrated routinely (along with standard medical procedures), patients often report feeling less pain and anxiety, require fewer medications, and have quicker recovery times.

Conditions that people have used Reiki to help treat include:

Incorporating Reiki with conventional healthcare not only assists with curing the curable, but also provides a solution for caring for the incurable. Because Reiki facilitates the body’s creative ability to heal itself, dramatic healing shifts can occur when Reiki is part of a medical treatment plan.
